Nic called me last night complaining about how his injured finger is preventing him from fully enjoying Monster Hunter Freedom 2. Being the loyal, good-looking, and extremely humble friend that I am, I woke up at the break of noon and took him to my elder kung-fu brother’s (who just so happens to be my father’s Choy Lay Fut teacher’s grandson, who himself was a Hong Kong action star of the 80s and 90s) bone-setting clinic in Shum Shui Po.
I’ve witnessed Nic performing dangerous stunts over and over again on the set without a single complaint, so what happened at the clinic was surprising and embarrassing at the exact same time.
I’ve never seen a grown man cry and whimper like that before. However, as soon as I whipped out my camera, his tears of weakness instantly disappeared from his cheeks.
He immediately went into his “tough-guy-act” without knowing that I can superimpose speech and thought bubbles onto any photograph with ease using photoshop.
Notice Nic continuing to hold in his tears while I hold in my laughter.
(a special thanks to my elder kung fu brother, To Siu-Chun, for specially opening his clinic on Sunday and enduring our buffoonery while he was hard at work fixing Nic’s hand)
